Light therapy devices can sometimes qualify for medical insurance reimbursement and may be an allowable expense under your HSA/FSA program.  In order to be reimbursed, you will  be required to send in a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from your doctor to the insurance company. Alternatively, you may be able to pay the expense with your HSA or FSA funds.  

Light therapy is considered a Dual Purpose treatment, that is it can be used for Medical Issues or General Wellness. The Auragen System is a wellness product.  However, some customers have been able to receive 100% reimbursement with a doctor's prescription or letter of medical necessity. Your physician may determine that the Auragen delivers wavelengths and/or programs that can benefit your particular medical condition.  

To determine whether your health insurance policy covers light therapy equipment, you will want to contact your insurance company directly. If they say that they will (or even may) cover the purchase of a light therapy device, make sure you ask them to send you an email or letter confirming such, and that you fully understand their procedures.  Sometimes a claim is denied because the light therapy device was ordered before obtaining either a prescription from a health professional or failure to obtain pre-approval from your insurance company.

LED phototherapy is considered safe for all ages.  The FDA moved LED phototherapy into its own class ,separate from laser technology, which is  much more heavily regulated, and can pose some risks if not applied by medical professionals.  

The Auragen is recommended for almost all ages. From 9 to 99 years old.  Sometimes even younger children can use the Auragen as long as they are mature enough to reliably keep their eyes closed during the session.  

Auragen can be safely used with pets. Auragen has devoted pet following including cats, dogs, and even birds. Animals often love and benefit from all wavelengths, but especially Red and NIR. Be sure to turn off Flicker ( Theta /Gamma entrainment) when using with animals. 

Yes. Auragen utilizes the three most tested, researched, and safest wavelengths: Blue-Turquoise, Red, and Near-Infrared. 

None of these wavelengths pose any harm to the vast majority of the population.  Exceptions would be these that apply for phototherapy in general, not for any of the wavelengths used in the Auragen. See Precautions for more information.

Blue-Turquoise light is not the same as the blue light implicated with the acceleration of macular degeneration.  Avoid overexposure to the Blue-Violet range of wavelengths (under 455nm) - it has been associated with possibly accelerating this retinal disorder. 

Auragen's Blue-Turquoise light is completely safe for the eyes and brain. 

The Auragen System should always be used with eyes closed. 

Eyeshields are NOT necessary and even not recommended. The vast majority of customers never use eyeshields during a session.  Some of these customers have been using our technology daily for almost a decade.  The wavelengths utilized by Auragen are completely safe.*  *see precautions

Additionally, the Gamma and Theta light entrainment will be neutralized with eyeshields. Covering the eyes lessens some of the wonderful benefits of bioactive light reaching the eyes and brain. 

The eyeshields are available for purchase to provide additional comfort only if needed as a user is getting acclimated.

Face, hands, and feet have the most capillaries and therefore absorb more light.  Users can also get a systemic Photobiomodulation effect from exposing hands or feet, instead of the face during a session. However, Gamma and Theta entrainment only work with the canopy over the face and the eyes not shielded.

WARNING: Do not use the Auragen Light if you or any one in your immediate biological family has a history of photosensitive epilepsy. A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to flashing lights or patterns.  *see Seizure Warning

WARNING: Do not use the Auragen light if you have any type of photosensitivity, or are taking any photosensitizing medications or herbal supplements, like St John's Wort. Use of photosensitive face creams may result in the occurrence of minor discomfort or discoloration.

WARNING: Do not use the Auragen Light if you have a psychiatric diagnosis of Mania.

Auragen is intended to be used as a wellness device.  Always  consult with a licensed medical professional about the use of phototherapy with specific medical conditions or if you have medical questions. Do not use the Auragen Light if you or any one in your immediate biological family has a history of photosensitive epilepsy.

The Auragen  Theta and Gamma brainwave entrainment utilizes flickering light patterns. A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to flashing lights or patterns. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while playing video games, watching TV, looking at strobe lights.

These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects.

If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using this product immediately and consult a doctor.

DO NOT apply any liquid cleaners directly to the Auragen.

DO NOT apply any essential oil products directly to the Auragen.

DO NOT use any harsh chemicals; including bleach, ammonia, alcohol, or oil based cleaners as these will damage the unit.

DO NOT expose to direct sunlight, intense heat or cold for prolonged periods of time. 

DO NOT cover the control panel or canopy when the unit is in use or plugged in.

DO NOT use while bathing or near water. Do not place in, or drop into water or other liquid. If the Auragen falls into water, “unplug it” immediately. Do not reach into the water.

DO NOT allow the power supply cord to be pulled, twisted, or severely bent. Never wrap the cord tightly.

DO NOT let power cord hang or pull on the Auragen Light input receptor on top of the canopy, as this could damage the receptor.

If for any reason you are not satisfied, you can return your unit in its original condition, within 60 days from the date of delivery (less a 10% restocking fee and shipping). The unit must be returned in the orginal condition to receive a full reimbursement.

If you need to modify your order, please contact us within an hour of placing it. We'll do our best to help with your order, but if it has been shipped out already, it can not be modified. We can add accessories in a separate shipment.
