Peter Newsom, MD, Neuropsychiatrist

A board certified psychiatrist with more than three decades of medical experience. In his practice, Dr. Peter Newsom employs a range of therapeutic techniques, including mindfulness training, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), neurofeedback, biofeedback, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Photobiomodulation, Brainwave Entrainment, and medication management. Trained in both child/adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry, Dr. Newsom provides treatment to patients of all ages for such conditions as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), to name a few.

Dr. Peter Newsom also presides over the nonprofits NeuroTrack Health Institute and Camp Thunder. Founded by Dr. Newsom in 2012, the organizations collectively promote psychological and social well-being in children through after-school and summer camp activities as well as parent education programs.

Previously, Dr. Peter Newsom fulfilled the post of Vice Chair in Psychiatry at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California. Prior to launching his practice in psychiatry, he served for 18 years as an emergency room physician. In that capacity, he attended to patients at medical facilities in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, where he also taught at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Division of Emergency Medicine. His other career accomplishments include directing the Valley Medical Industrial Center in Los Angeles and delivering care to the indigenous population of Peru as a medical relief team member.

Dr. Peter Newsom received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine.
